The City of Anna was founded in 1913. It was originally named for Anna Quinlan, daughter of George Quinlan who was Superintendent of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad that initially brought the “spark” to the young town. Its 2022 population was 19,491. Major employers in Anna include Anna Business Park, Anna Town Center, Anna ISD, and Standridge Property developments all underway, Anna is poised for substantial economic development being located on the US 75 corridor near the TI Expansion in Sherman.
