The City of Little Elm was established along Lewisville Lake by C.C. King in 1844 and was officially incorporated in 1966. Its 2022 population was 52,621. Little Elm is known for being a sleepy bedroom community on the northeastern shores of Lake Lewisville that experienced rapid population growth since 1970. Major employers in Little Elm include Little Elm ISD, Town of Little Elm, Kroger, Lowe’s Home Center, and Retractable Technologies. Little Elm is home to attractions including Lake Lewisville and Cottonwood Creek Marina. Little Elm’s parks include Little Elm Park, Cottonwood Park, Beard Park, McCord Park, and Union Park. Students in Little Elm attend Little Elm ISD (8,108 students); some areas are in Frisco ISD, and Denton ISD.
